Hi! I’m Shaine. I’m a toddler mum with a teaching degree and 10 years of experience in early childhood settings, and the person behind MotherooHQ.
Every resource here was first made for my own little one’s homeschool learning, then adapted to share with other homeschooling families. MotherooHQ grew from wanting to share those ideas and give other parents practical ways to bring learning into their everyday play.
Learning through play
Little ones learn by doing, so each lesson is designed around moving, exploring, building and pretending. There’s room to ask questions, try things out, make a mess and return to a favourite activity again.
Where printables are included, they become part of the play. A picture card might be something to find in a sensory tray, a mat might become a place to build with playdough, and a matching activity might start a conversation about an animal your child has noticed.
This approach comes from what I learnt working with little ones, and what I’m still learning now as a mum.
Unit Studies
My unit studies bring learning together around a shared topic, giving you and your child something to explore over a series of connected lessons.
Guided lessons, picture cards and parent information help you introduce new ideas, while practical activities make space for discovery, creativity and conversation. The topic becomes a starting point for learning across different subjects, with opportunities to make, move, observe and play.
You can keep conversations short, spend longer on an idea that interests your child and choose activities to suit their readiness. Optional extensions offer ways for older children to explore further, so you can adapt the learning to the children in your family.
Early Learning Bundles
My Early Learning Bundles bring together ideas and reusable resources for everyday learning at home. Guided mat time plans, activity cards and playful printables help you explore letters, numbers, shapes, colours and animals together.
Activities include playdough, magnetic tiles, art and craft, nature exploration and sensory play, alongside puzzles, matching and discovery games. Parent guidance helps you prepare the materials and introduce each activity.
You might follow a weekly plan, choose an activity that catches your child’s interest or put together a small learning basket to explore throughout the week. Resources can be revisited with different toys and materials as your child’s interests and skills develop.
Learning at your family’s pace
I create these resources to give you a useful starting point, with room to make the learning your own. Choose what suits your child, repeat the things they enjoy and take your time exploring together.
My hope is that something first made for our homeschool days becomes a helpful part of yours.
